Dawson’s Peek: Rell’s Revelation Of A Remake
There’s a track on The Bleeding Edge, the album from The Revelations featuring Tre’ Williams–an album full of great music–that blows me away each time it plays. It’s been on repeat in my mp3 player for a week now, and i still can’t get enough. It’s #11, for those keeping score at home, the re-imagining of the Carole King song “It’s Too Late.” Here, Rell (of Roc-A-Fella fame) takes the leads and goes hard, pouring everything he’s got into the ballad about a love gone wrong.
Last month, I had the privilege of seeing the band perform the song live twice in the span of five days, and each time, each delivery was different. Unique. Incredible. Listen, if you haven’t seen The Revelations in person, fix that. You’re depriving yourself of a great show. Oh, and I’d ask you to purchase the album, but really, if you’re a soul music lover, you already own it. The album version is below for your enjoyment, and the album is in stores now.
