Sade’s New Music Has Me ‘Sky’ High
There was always something about Sade’s music that made me place my face in my hands and let out a contented sigh. I’d close my eyes and just get caught up in the moments, in the beats. In the soothing strains of Helen’s voice. The sound is flawless. Otherworldly.
I’ll admit, though, when the lead single from the forthcoming album “Soldier of Love” was released late last year, and the band’s sound seemed to shift, I didn’t think there would be much face cuppage in my future. And then, while in the middle of the craziness that was Los Angeles during Grammy weekend, I heard this song. “The Moon and The Sky.” And I instinctively stopped whatever it was I was doing, sat down, placed my face in my hands…and just listened. Content. It’s the Sade I love. Still flawless. So, so soothing. A perfect story.
Take a listen. You’ll see what I mean. Soldier of Love hits stores next week.

I love Sade. When I first heard Soldier of Love, I recognized her right away. It was gritty, different, but her shift, I believe was necessary. She needed to make an entrance. She already had those of us who’ve listened since the beginning. We still pull out the old Sade and reminisce. But she wanted to reach the next generation. She wanted to pull them in too. -jj
