There are many reasons why I will miss New York. Marina Franklin is near the top of the list. The thirtysomething comedian–and my homie–is a natural-headed ball of fire, loves house music and has a cat that may or may not be blind. Heh. From going to see her perform, hanging with her and her comedian friends, and just spending time with her–all of that makes me wax nostalgic, and I haven’t even left yet.
The Chicago native regularly lights up stages all over the city from the world famous Comedy Cellar to her home club, Comic Strip Live!, with her brand of self-deprecating style of humor. She’s also a television star, appearing regularly on Chappelle’s Show and as a correspondent on the prime time Jay Leno Show. To say I’m proud of her is an understatement.
Earlier this week, she guested on CBS’ Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, doing a set about dating and living in Harlem. Love her. She makes me laugh. I encourage you to get familiar now and keep up with her here and here. She’s definitely on the way to huge things.
Check the clip of her performance after the jump. Boom.
