If you’re a fan (or, un-fan) of the song “Empire State of Mind,” then you definitely know who Bridget Kelly is. She’s the Roc Nation artist who seamlessly filled in for Alicia Keys during Jay-Z‘s tour in 2009 when the song was white-hot, including appearances at his sold-out Madison Square Garden concert and at the New York Yankees victory celebration at City Hall. Which is fitting, since the 25-year old Kelly is a native New Yorker.
She’s also a brilliant vocalist, and last month, official word was put out that her debut project is just about complete. Ready for consumption. And that’s a great thing, since BeeKay definitely has a lot to share. In the interim, however, word is she will put out a digital EP. Bring it.
The first single is “Thinking About Forever,” a track which was written and originally recorded by Odd Future artist Frank Ocean. And while Ocean’s version absolutely slays, Kelly makes it her own, flipping it on the acoustic tip, which allows her ample voice to shine.
Take a look after the jump, and then get ready for Bridget Kelly, knowing full well that you’ve been sufficiently warned. Dope. Enoy.
