He is literally the hardest working man in independent music. And that’s saying something, given that one of his co-horts, Eric Roberson, is constantly on the grind. But Phonte Coleman, straight out of Raleigh, North Carolina and one of the two men in charge over at Foreign Exchange Music, might just have Erro beat.
Fresh off of serving as executive producer and artist on projects for both The Foreign Exchange and collective member Zo!, and guesting on just about every song out today, including Erro’s current single “Picture Perfect,” Phonte is ready for his close up for the first time as a solo artist, with his project Charity Starts At Home ready for a September release.
The lead single is “Not Here Anymore,” and with Elzhi adding a hot sixteen bars to the track, the project is off to a great start. Add in the fact that former Little Brother member 9th Wonder produced the track, and it’s pretty much a done deal that this song wins.
That’s just our opinion. Take a listen to the track below and let us know if Phonte’s “Here” is where its at. Enjoy.
