It’s been a huge week for television, as each network gathered in New York City for the annual event called upfronts. This is when the networks trot out all of their stars in front of advertisers, as well as unveiling their schedule for the upcoming season.
Besides this, a show I can’t wait to check out is from ABC: the Shonda Rhimes series Scandal, which stars Kerry Washington and is based on the life of Washington, DC “fixer” Judy Smith.
Here’s an official description of the show from imdb.com:
Scandal, a new series from Shonda Rhimes, is coming to ABC midseason (early 2012). It revolves around the life and work of a crisis manager and her staff. Kerry Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a former PR consultant to the President who can’t seem to cut ties with her past – professionally and personally.
Pope’s dysfunctional team – who specialize in fixing people’s lives, but can’t quite rectify their own – include Lost’s Henry Ian Cusick as Stephen Finch, Columbus Short as Harrison Wright, Guillermo Diaz as Huck, Darby Stanchfield as Abby and Katie Lowes as Quinn.
Ghost‘s Tony Goldwyn takes on the role of President Fitzgerald Grant.
I always give Shonda’s shows a chance (technically Off The Map wasn’t written by Rhimes, so I didn’t have to indulge that misstep of a show), and I think Washington is a pure talent, so I’ll definitely be checking out Scandal when it debuts early next year.
Check the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
